This provides provides information about Tennessee’s planning and implementation efforts for COVID-19 vaccine allocation and distribution.

This week’s highlights:

  • Tennessee among top states for completing second vaccine doses
  • Tennessee is ahead of national average in vaccination of minority populations
  • UCG members tour Nashville mass vaccination site
  • More than 1.3 million Tennesseans have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Current Efforts:

  • Tennessee continues making great progress in protecting those most at risk for serious illness and death from COVID-19.
  • More than 1.3 million Tennesseans have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine
  • 17.9 percent of Tennessee’s population has received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine
  • Tennessee is ranked 12th in the nation for the percentage of second vaccine doses completed
  • To date, 8.8 percent of Black Tennesseans have been vaccinated, above the national average of 7.6 percent
  • Tennessee Health Commissioner Lisa Piercey and Tennessee Adjutant General Jeffrey Holmes Mar. 16 toured the Music City Center mass vaccination site operated by the Metro Public Health Department in Nashville. Partners in this effort include FEMA and Hands on Nashville.
  • TDH is nearing completion of the investigation of COVID-19 vaccine mismanagement at the Shelby County Health Department. This effort has involved multiple state and federal agencies including the CDC, HHS, Operation Warp Speed and the FDA and discussions with scientists and executives from Pfizer and Moderna. An after-action review and a full written report will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
  • Vaccination appointments are widely available across the state, with many rural Tennessee county health departments seeing only a fraction of their daily COVID-19 vaccination appointments filled. Tennesseans eligible for COVID-19 vaccination can visit Vaccinate.tn.gov to book their vaccination appointment at their county health department.
  • Information on other vaccination locations in the community is available at VaccineFinder.org (opens in a new window). These sites include retail pharmacies, independent pharmacies, hospitals, federally qualified health care centers and faith-based health clinics.
  • More than 261,000 vaccinations were provided in the past week
  • More than 2.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been delivered to Tennessee providers
  • Nearly 715,000 Tennesseans are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19
